GIMP is My Go-To Photo Editing Choice
Overall Satisfaction with GIMP
I work with a ton of photos of adorable dogs and cats from our community. Some of these photos are good, some aren't. Some need lots of manipulation and some just need resizing. I don't need a complicated program, but GIMP has more advanced features if I need them. Basically I use it for photo editing purposes to create quality images we use in print and electronic form..
Pros
- Photo editing
- Photo retouching
- Image resizing
- Image opening and re-saving as other file type
Cons
- It can stand to be a bit more user friendly. GIMP feels like a more advanced software.
- Better online help documentation is needed.
- The interface is pretty small, with tiny type. I'd love to see it bigger.
- I don't need to pay sky-high Photoshop subscription costs, it saves me a ton of money there.
- I like the rapid photo editing features it allows.
- GIMP is pretty easy to learn IF you already have a little knowledge of photo editing software
- Adobe PhotoShop and Canva
Online services like Canva are fine for quickly designing brochures and marketing materials, videos, etc. They're user friendly and fast if you have a good connection. But if you're in production mode and need to do a lot of photo manipulation at once, without being connected to the web at all times and just want to focus, GIMP is the go-to product for you.
