Overall Satisfaction with Db2

IBM Db2 we are using as a database for our production wesbsite and being used for storing relational data for like product information, product structure, raw materials, vendors ,customer, purchase orders, receiving reports ,details of critical machinery, infrastructure and processes involved in manufacturing of parts .Scope of use case is for data anlaytics for getting insights about production planning.

Pros

  • super efficient query mechanism
  • Low latency for applications using databases
  • good for analytical work

Cons

  • simple migration from other popular databases
  • graph databases like capability
  • security at tabular level
  • higher databses performance
  • user satisfaction due to low latency
  • easier Databsae mangement
  • better analytics capabilities
Db2 is very much flexible and scalable database ,as we have started very small with just putting limited data in Db2 as a backup database for our existing database but as we were using Db2 we were very much satisfied by its enhanced capabilities ,better integration with analytics engine and provision for artificial intelligence features.
Db2 is a very robust database which is developed on IBM's decades of experience by considering all the latest possible features for a relational database like provisions for JSON,text etc along with best security features and warehouse capabilities. it is highly available databses and we have not faced unplanned outages and very few instances of applications errors.
we have felt Db2 with enhance capability stands better than oracle offering and cost benefit is also there with features like better security and better integration with analytical engines and provision for XML, JSON, text and spatial data formats for different kinds of applications.Support for various programming languages Java, .Net, Ruby, Python, R, Perl, C, C++, pureXML, XQuery etc

Do you think Db2 delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Db2's feature set?

Yes

Did Db2 live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Db2 go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Db2 again?

Yes

it is best suited for use cases meant for relational databases like production environments where lot of data need to be stored in different tables and in one way or other way that data is interlinked like supplier information, customer information, product information etc with support for XML, JSON, text and spatial data formats and less suited to knowledge Mangement, fraud detection, real time recommendation engine etc where graph databases are more suitable.
