Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst IR1100 Rugged Series Routers
We are using this Cisco [Catalyst] IR1101 [Rugged Series Routers] for remote vessel monitoring and tracking use cases in the Maritime field. Due to its capability of the serial interface, we connected multiple PLC/Sensors/Gyro/GPS to this gateway and read close to 1500 parameters from the vessel, and transported the data using its LTE capability. [...] We are soon to explore 5G as well with the same router. Also, with its support of Edge compute capabilities, we packaged and dockerized our Data Acquisition software using [the] Cisco IOX client and ran it on this router to read the sensor data and finally sending to our dashboard. As part of our command and control center, with this router's capabilities of running SD-WAN and IoT OD (Operational Dashboard), it's easy for us to manage the gateway remotely. Overall we loved working with this IR1101 router that's running Cisco IOS-XE that gives us better performance and is more rugged to deploy in harsh environments.
