Overall Satisfaction with Brightpearl

They were very responsive and it was easy to get a hold of them.
Brightpearl is used as the inventory management tool in the organization I support. It has hooks to Magento, Salesforce and Qlik where we do e-commerce, customer relations and revenue reporting respectively.

Pros

  • Intuitive interface
  • Active help/support desk

Cons

  • API does not allow access to all fields on core objects
  • API throttling doesn't offer way to get most recently updated objects
  • Reporting in Brightpearl is very hard to gather different sets of data together
  • A useful tool for inventory tracking
Brightpearl is well suited if you don't have elaborate reporting structures. For example, we ship to different categories of clients, and each category has a different date when we collect payment from them. Some are on delivery date and some are at the creation date (corporate deliveries vs e-commerce, for example). The problem with this, when it comes to revenue reporting, is the revenue date for each of these will require us to pull separate reports with different date filters. That is why we need to use an external reporting service, Qlik. Unfortunately, from that perspective, it is very difficult to get all the information through Brightpearl's API, as they have limits on records per query and limits on queries per five minute period. While the limits are important for maintaining service, the improvement Brightpearl should consider is allowing an API call for the 200 most recently updated objects versus only 200 in a specific range at a time.
