Overall Satisfaction with BlackLine
We use this to help manage the steps needed for the tax return as well as for audit documentation. Previously, audit documentation was stored on various computers, and tax documentation was stored on a single computer. This information wasn't readily accessible to anyone at the company and it was difficult to find documentation during audits or when trying to look back at previous audits and returns.
Pros

- Reminders on when tasks are not complete
- Keeping a chain of command for controls purposes
Cons
- Interface not intuitive
- Difficult to set up new tasks
- Due dates for tasks not intuitive
- Helped to implement controls
- Helped to make sure that documentation was reviewed
- Helped to make tasks less ambiguous on who was doing what
This would have no impact on us, as they have not provided that guidance to us. Additionally, if this guidance isn't peer reviewed, I would feel more comfortable using the guidance from a Big 4 Accounting firm, over BlackLine.
BlackLine should do a better job at making these tools more available to its users as I was not aware that this was available.
