Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize BlackLine for close tasks and for managing reconciliations. The product addresses business problems including streamlining close tasks, helping with version control, reducing emails, etc. It also helps catch errors through enforcing reconciliations for all accounts - including accounts where an adjustment is made after a rec is prepared. This helps us ensure everything is appropriately accounted for.

Support Rating

Throughout the implementation and go-live process, various members of our BlackLine team left the organization. We were also advised to go through with the go live date even though we had not finished implementing automated matching. Since then, we have faced various issues and we have lacked customer support; also, while the IT support responds timely, they aren't always as close to the case.

Partnership

We have enjoyed partnering with BlackLine and have had a good experience overall. However, we have felt that once we signed the contract, we stopped receiving as much support from the team. Like I previously mentioned, multiple team members on the BlackLine side that we were provided with left the company and we do not feel like we have a consistent resource to help us as we are new in the go live process.

I think BlackLine is useful for organizations that need help with making sure close tasks are completed in a timely manner since it helps facilitate an automated workflow and eliminates the use of a manual checklist. However, I think this would be more useful for an org that has a dedicated close manager who is making sure tasks are being completed and recs are done timely.
