Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Defender for Cloud
We have recently migrated our entire infrastructure to the Azure cloud and needed a simple but effective solution since I don't have a dedicated security team. With Defender I was able to secure my cloud environment and my endpoints. The only area where I required assistance was setting up the initial rule sets.
Pros
- Endpoint security on Azure VM's
- Email Security
- Reporting and hunting
- remediation
Cons
- It can be very overwhelming when first using it. It's very comprehensive.
- Reporting
- Hunting
- Automation
- The return on investment when compared to staffing a SOC is high.
- The return on investment when compared to a MSP is high.
We are 100% in the Azure cloud. Only thing not in the cloud is our endpoints. We are also 100% remote with no physical location.
I wouldn't say it eliminates alerts, but it is very effective in catching and blocking events from compromising my systems. There may be a slight reduction do to the fact that we are blocking more suspicious activity at the edge.
Yes. I no longer require a separate tool for Servers, Endpoints, DLP ect since Defender is a complete solution.
- Sophos Virtualization Security and Clearswift SECURE Email Gateway (SEG)
ASC is more suited for organizations with limited budget and staff.
