Overall Satisfaction with Avaya UCaaS

Avaya UCaaS has been evaluated at my location. It was sufficient to the work it was intended to address but not in the environment in which we carry out this work. All parts of the system were adequate, as noted, including Instant Messaging, Presence, and Desktop Sharing but in total the system was not adroit enough for our use. We have over 100 sites across the United States and hundreds more around the globe. The amount of time necessary to program this system and then troubleshoot the multiple problems encountered when simply setting the system up for testing and use at one office was unacceptable.

We have been able to take care of all our business communication needs from within one platform. We were evaluating Avaya UCaaS and it failed. We will not be revisiting the software nor the vendor that presented the software and systems to us. The system and its operation harkened back to the midlevel software that Avaya produced just prior to it going bankrupt. There is no real advance.
Their training materials are very expensive. What one would expect would be free in order to run the software and eventually expand its use is consumed by the cost of training new users and administrators and operators. The documentation is not clearly written. Off site support is poor and substandard.
Avaya UCaaS has not streamlined any workflow in any way, let alone meaningful. Avaya UCaaS introduced a host of problems associated with lack of knowledge about basic workflow and a strange insistence that we change our operating procedures and set aside established systems in order to build a system from scratch using UCaaS. There was very little integration and that which was presented regularly failed or was outpaced by their competion and the software we utilize already. It was very sad.
We did not select Avaya UCaaS. We set it aside after six months of testing and shakedown. We reverted the one office we were testing in and removed all the software and training materials they provided. All equipment associated with the problem was repurposed or removed. It proved out, however, that we have been spending on target for the systems that we have installed already.

If a small company needs simple Instant Messaging, Desktop Sharing and Presence for some application like a small Real Estate Office or some off site business with a handful of employees it might be useful.

The methods and processes for setting up much of what is promised by this Unified Communications offering is not worth the initial work. Ongoing issues, difficulty with interfacing with other products and the more than occasional failure of the system to do what was programmed shows it is less appropriate for a large, fast moving organization.
