Overall Satisfaction with Astra DB
Astra DB is used as one of the databases for developing our product. Since we at Edii have been working with CQL, it wasn't difficult to onboard everyone on the team. Astra DB helps us manage data easily which in return helps us develop a better application.
Pros
- Migrating from any other database is simplistic and well-supported.
- Astra CLI is a blessing for everyone who has previously worked with CQL.
- It provides a simplified sense of security with high scalability.
Cons
- Requires getting used to for a newbie.
- Pricing can be a bit less.
- Requires no maintenance at all. So that's a dodged bullet.
- If one wants to automate the data part of their product, Astra DB will make your life easier.
Learning new things from the documentation such as working with Stargate API was interesting. The documentation is well written. Astra CLI makes it much easier. And one doesn't have to write a lot of commands since it does most of the work itself.
Astra DB is more optimized as compared to its rivals in many cases such as the replication provides with maximum uptime.
