Overall Satisfaction with IBM Apptio
We use ITP to budget at the line item detail, which helps with end of month close when the finance team is submitting entries, along with budgeting. IT is consistently close to budget and a huge part of that is ITP. In Cost Transparency, we have been able to see details surrounding our financials incredibly easy as well as details into enterprise wide workstations and cell phones. We are branching out currently and building out a proof of concept for facilities.
Pros
- Ability to view specific areas in Reports.
- Easily change access to filter what certain users can see.
- Connecting Operational and Financial Data within CT.
Cons
- I think a lot of it comes down to the person working on it on the back end or users.
- I think Forecasting could be a little easier.
- Changing the way we turn off cell phones based on our mobile phones report, this has shown significant savings.
- The way we do our variance analysis, we have had 100% compliance for 25 months.
- We are currently using the analytics abilities in CT to implement another area.
For budgeting in IT Planning we actually use a 2 year plan that allows us to budget for the whole year so when budget season comes around, IT leaders are ready. We use the forecasting on the finance team to try and understand how to perpetually budget throughout the year.

Evaluating IBM Apptio and Competitors
Yes - We are replacing all ofthe Tableau dashboards in the areas we are integrating in Apptio through EBM. We are also replacing dozens of excel spreadsheets and manual process through various Apptio dashboards and editable tables. We are working towards making Apptio a one stop shop for various departments in Shared Services.

IT needed help with gaining more insights into there costs, we have recently done a POV for cloudability which is going to be crucial as we mature our cloud usage. We are currently using Apptio one to do our EBM journey. The ease of use from and end user and a developer persepctive has driven this decision.
I was not involved in the selection of Apptio at Cleveland Clinic that was before my time, we have been a customer for 10 years. Going through EBM I would have asked Apptio for more help when I was doing specific use cases, overall we are very happy with our Apptio product.
