Overall Satisfaction with Anaplan

At my organization, we both implement Anaplan for other companies as an Anaplan partner, as well as use Anaplan for internal firm operations. We do quite a few things in Anaplan, from forecasting our financials to having employees input PTO (where teams can view), to tracking and managing projects. Anaplan is a very robust tool that offers a lot of flexibility in how you use it and we take advantage of that flexibility.

Pros

  • Tracking changes users make in an auditable fashion
  • Having security available at all levels, from login to detailed individual cell level
  • A real time calculation engine driven by human-readable formulas

Cons

  • Managing hierarchies that change over time
  • Shifting dimensionality within a calculation
  • Overriding just one specific cell but having the rest calculate like normal
  • We not only use Anaplan with clients but for our internal operations. It's both saved us from needing to purchase other tools and shows the capabilities of the tool.
  • The company has been a great partner to us and I couldn't speak more highly of the people and partnership team.
The tools generally fill different niches, Anaplan is the best for corporate and enterprise planning, OneStream's strengths are in Consolidations and working with large data sets by IT, and Pigment is a strong contender for finance teams at small organizations with less-defined processes.

Do you think Anaplan delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Anaplan's feature set?

Yes

Did Anaplan live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Anaplan go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Anaplan again?

Yes

Anaplan is well-suited for larger organizations with well-defined hierarchies and processes. The enterprise-grade security is a key value add the platform offers. Anaplan is less well suited to smaller organizations with rapidly shifting and less structured hierarchies/processes/planning approaches. While Anaplan offers more of a "blank slate," where users can plan just about any type of driver-based plan, the reduced flexibility in shifting hierarchies and dimensions makes it more difficult to use in this scenario.
