We use Paylocity for processing payroll, recruiting, and onboarding new employees. It helped to streamline our recruiting process by being

able to post jobs directly from their system. It helped to streamline

our onboarding process by giving us the ability to have employees fill

out all of their paperwork in the portal, and it added them directly into

the payroll system.

Payroll is a commodity, and most payroll companies can process payroll correctly and easily. Paylocity is cost-effective and processes payroll well. Customer service so far has been responsive and can resolve my issues. There were some issues with the initial setup and their onboarding team, and I had a lot of extra work to do to make sure the first payroll was processed correctly.

Cons

One-time payroll check processing is a bit complicated and hard to remember.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We implemented Paylocity to replace our outdated Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and allow for seamless integration by using their Applicant Tracking System (ATS). We currently utilize the HR & Payroll, Benefits, Recruiting, Onboarding, surveys and Learning Management System (LMS) in Paylocity. We are hoping to implement the use of Expenses and Workflows next year. One of our primary reasons for switching HRIS was to allow for better integration with our numerous external platforms and benefits vendors. At 1 year post-implementation we have approximately 50% of our file feeds working to seemly integrate our systems. We had a difficult time during the implementation phase with Paylocity and it only continued to get worse as our account manager with Paylocity has changed multiple times throughout the past year. We have been diligent about communicating with Paylocity in instances where there is room for system optimization and we are very optimistic as it seems there are constant improvements being made and recapped on monthly. Ultimately we like the system and it has been a major improvement for us but the customer service seems to be lacking.

Paylocity provides a lot of features in their HR & Payroll features to automate the processing of employee information. They are able to integrate with many vendors to provide automation for the company. While the applicant tracking system works well it lacks the ability to customize the careers page, the job posting format and the workflows when there are multiple parties involved (ie: Hiring Manager, Requisition Approvers, Recruiters, Compensation Analysts, HR Coordinators). Their Learning Management System is nice but doesn't offer a lot beyond product trainings for Paylocity so we still require a separate LMS. Their customer service really struggles and is my primary reason for not giving them a 10 score.

We use a majority of the modules at Paylocity - HR/Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Data Insights, Learning, Performance, Recruiting, Surveys and the Intranet (Community). We love it and so do our employees. It's very easy to navigate for both the administrators and users. The Data Insights has been very useful with metrics that we can report out to our board of directors and our lines of businesses. We use Paylocity for eight companies and it's been a great experience. It interacts very well with our Finance ERP - Sage Intacct and has reduced a lot of manual work.

Pros

Data Insights has the metrics our board wants.
Flexibility to handle multiple industries and their needs.
Benefit Open Enrollment is a breeze for the administrators and users.

Cons

Onboarding has been an issue at times.
Lack of consistent points of contact
Some departments have a long wait time to resolve issues, i.e. tax department.

I have used many different HRIS systems and Paylocity has been the best one so far from an administrator and user standpoint. It's easy to use and very easy to implement. We have added different companies to our account over the years and it has always gone very well.

Implementation was very fast. We could have used some more support during it and spread out a little more. We had barely any time for the HRIS side of things. After implementation you are unable to get one of your designated service people on the phone and it take 24-48 hours for someone to reply to an email. The platform is user friendly and it is well-liked by staff.

Timeliness of updating tax rates
Paylocity not finalizing Q4 or W2s until payroll has a chance to review & release
Allowing customers time to enter YE TPSP before finalizing W2s to avoid costs for W2Cs and amendments
Customer Service - sometimes it takes days to get a response
Reporting for FSA on ER Portal - I don't want to see EXPECTED Payroll Deduction, I want a report that shows the ACTUAL deduction
Benefit Reconciliation Report that is accurate. We were told by rep not to use!!!
Allow more administrators to receive emails pertaining to taxes (quarterly, annual, issues, etc.), direct deposit returns. Absolutely insane that only the CAO receives these and not the Payroll Administrator.
Allow payroll administrators to update SUI rates so we don't have variances every 1Q and we don't have to hear "we're very busy since it's year-end and we need to get 4Q and W2s done."
Doesn't calculate benefits arrears nor have a box to enter one time benefit correction

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Paylocity helps me streamline all aspects of Human Resources. I am a department of one. Having Recruiting, On boarding, Retention, Employee Engagement, Off boarding, Time and Labor, Payroll, etc., all in one place, makes my life easier. For example, from switching to Paylocity, completing payroll takes me 30 minutes compared to 5 hours with my previous provider. Because of Paylocity, I can now focus on the human side of human resources. I am now more available to my employees' needs compared to before.

Pros

Payroll.
Recruiting - templates and offer letters then transitioning to onboarding.
Data Insights. Seeing the analytical side of the company helps with our strategic focus.

Cons

Having a source where clients can network with one another would be a cool feature to see.
For the salary comparison feature, if it could be separated from non-profit vs. for profit companies.

Paylocity is great for any organization looking to streamline their multiple providers/resources. Having each platform work with one another minimizes the amount it takes to do each task. For example, the recruiting feature allows hiring managers to complete template emails for candidates who are moved throughout the application process all the way to the offer letter that can be sent via email. This allows companies to stay consistent with their wording to candidates. Once a candidate accepts the offer, they immediately get transferred to the onboarding feature - which has all their information from the recruiting side.

We have nearly all the modules to automate the employee lifecycle: recruiting, onboarding, benefits, performance, compensation, learning, surveys, time & labor, HR & payroll and spending accounts. Paylocity has allowed us to eliminate paper, reach our employee population that doesn’t use email and manage multiple work locations with ease. The app makes adoption by the employees painless.

Continued engagements every month with briefs and detailed PEAK (how to) articles
Product training for all user classifications
Provides a wide array of digital features, eliminating the need for paper & time consuming administrative tasks.
Comprehensive canned reports and very user friendly filter and report writer features

From my experience, Paylocity is well suited for many industries and many company sizes. Paylocity is great for automating administrative tasks, including workflows and document storage. Paylocity has been great for communicating with blue collar workers that don’t check email regularly, allowing for multiple communication avenues, from texts to community posts with push notifications.

Paylocity has been the fantastic ability to combine a number of separate systems into one platform because it has greatly improved our onboarding experience. it can complicated as compared to our previous payroll provider because this system is a massive improvement. it has the bad ability to provide better customer support so it is not always the most responsive when we have to need this platform. We having ongoing issues with our video file integration in the Learning module that can be creating frustration at our new hire and current employee level.

Pros

Paylocity has enabled us to automate many things that were manual because it has saved us time and has also helped to earn back the trust of employees with increased accuracy in payroll.
we have worked with another very popular employee manager and it was not intuitive at all and I had to watch a video just to even understand how to navigate the website, so I appreciate that paylocity is or straightforward and it has a very easy and simple application.
This software is generally effective and user-friendly.

Cons

It has the lack capability to responsive its features that can be a significant drawback for users who encounter problems or have questions.
This can be frustrated and just wasted time as new users struggle to troubleshoot on their own or wait for unresponsive support.
It is an integrated system that which we use for HRIS, Recruiting and Payroll because it has easiest functionality and straightforward implementation.

Likelihood to Recommend

We like the various components that can be available to get integrates with Employee Navigator. We have also used this platform for applicant tracking that can be eliminating one more step with a spreadsheet.
