Fast + Secure + Reliable = GeoSurf

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

GeoSurf is an essential add-on that is used across our whole organization. Since we are an international company with many localized labels and regulations to comply with, GeoSurf enables us to simulate location-restricted journeys and verify the user experiences.

Pros

  • Simple and intuitive interface, very easy to switch between proxies.
  • There is an Android app that can be used with the same account.
  • More locations or alternative servers can always be arranged, if need be.

Cons

  • There is no iOS app which is a big gap and we need an alternative product for such devices.
  • Our subscriptions is with shared and limited bandwidth, some users forget to turn off GeoSurf when they are done with the proxy thus incurring unnecessary costs. Would be good to have some reality checks implemented to avoid unintended long session.
  • The Android interface is little outdated, although it's still simple and quick to use. I'd prefer slightly more modern design, including usage statistics.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's a great add-on for testing location-based user journeys. Sometimes it does not go around all geolocation restrictions (ie. video streaming) which is also understandable. Also since it's shared across the organization, the behavior of others in the network can impact the IP address (ie. black listing or temporary cool off).

GeoSurf is a must for your mobile apps

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Geosurf to develop and validate our apps in all the territories we support. It allows us to validate the work our team is doing as well as analyze what the competition is doing in similar markets.

Pros

  • Allows us to use real flows and real banking information for final review of products before shipping to a geo beta territory.

Cons

  • On mobile, the app UI is a little confusing and not that easy for some of our users to understand. First time users usually need a little hand holding.

Likelihood to Recommend

Geosurf is great for engineers and QA testers to validate work in foreign territories. However, the UI and flow of the app are not user-friendly for product and feature focused team members.

Great tool to visit a site without being physically present at the location

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It's being used by the whole organization. It solves location problems.

Pros

  • Offers IP of locations without being there
  • Easy tool to use

Cons

  • Doesn't work well on Chrome
  • Need to offer more IPs per popular locations (they get burnt)
  • The IPs appear as satellite - this also doesn't project a real and accurate picture

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

[It's used by the] SEO department to simulate traffic to the website from a variety of GEO locations. The media and affiliation departments test the ads published by advertisers.

Pros

  • Great support
  • Has all the GEO locations I need
  • In 5 years only once I needed a specific location that was not available

Cons

  • Different login interface. When you enter your username (email address) then leave the interface to look for the password - the username disappears.
  • Have to re-login often.

Likelihood to Recommend

I don't have a scenario in mind where GeoSurf would NOT be well suited... probably not ideal for streaming HQ movies.

GeoSurf features perfectly fit with international campaign management role.

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

GeoSurf is used by our campaign operations team that manages campaigns for various markets (with multiple advertisers) across the EMEA region. With GeoSurf it's easy to switch your browser to the needed country. This way we were able to tackle geo-settings on creatives, but we also use it for print screens to show the advertiser that the campaign(s) run on preferred inventory.

In addition to adjusting our geo settings, GeoSurf is also used for mobile emulation. With an increasing number of mobile campaigns, it's helpful to easily switch your browser into a 'mobile device' (e.g. Apple iPhone 6).

Pros

  • Flexibility to switch countries (if you need another country on your GeoSurf account, you can easily send a request to your GeoSurf contact).
  • Mobile Emulation.
  • Great support!

Cons

  • Experienced problems with the GeoSurf toolbar in several browsers (it's currently not working in Chrome for example).
  • Missing an overview of the contract (can't see how many countries we can add/how many change requests we can send, etc.).

Likelihood to Recommend

Campaign management for multiple advertisers across EMEA-market

-Possibility to make screenshots of the campaign to show the advertiser that the campaign is live and showing on preferred inventory.

-Tackle Geo-settings that are applied on the banner (not showing up except if you're in the country).

Mobile campaign management

-Easily switch your browser into a mobile device (e.g. Apple - iPhone 6).

GeoSurf, yep, it will help you.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using geosurf in our department to reproduce production issues and to troubleshoot geo location queries. Since our products are being used around the world, we need the ability to simulate logins from different countries With this need we found a great solution in GeoSurf. It's very easy to use and is giving us the needed platform for checking complaints that are arriving from around the world.

Pros

  • GeoSurf allows us to connect to our products the same way it was experienced by connecting from a different country, with latency and ISP limits.
  • It allows us to check blacklist and whitelist IPs and countries.
  • It is allowing us to reproduce real user complaints with success.

Cons

  • We need to have ability to check some other geolocation checks with simulation of GPS coordinates and other checks.

Likelihood to Recommend

As explained, whenever you need to reproduce a connection from a different country, GeoSurf gives the answer. But it is limited to IPs/countries and does not allow you to simulate GPS/Wifi coordinates and connections.

Be confident in your product's geo-location features after using GeoSurf to test them

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use GeoSurf to test our products as if they were accessed by real customers outside of our corporate network. This is vital since our products behave differently based on the user's geolocation.

Pros

  • GeoSurf is redirecting web traffic really well in order to simulate browsing from alternative locations.
  • GeoSurf has a good interface and is very easy to set up and adjust.
  • GeoSurf provides a very large number of possible VPN locations all around the globe.

Cons

  • One main thing to improve is that when GeoSurf is turned ON it routes traffic from idle browser tabs too. Would be best if only active tabs traffic is being redirected.
  • A widget to monitor traffic in real-time would be nice.
  • A way to program it to turn on/off the IP routing at specific times would be nice.

Likelihood to Recommend

GeoSurf is very useful if your product has geolocation features and you need to test those before releasing it.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My company has customers around the world, and I lead a team that places and manages content for websites and mobile apps in 10 different languages in countries from Europe to Latin America. My team relies heavily on GeoSurf to monitor the content we place on those sites, as it is important for us to view the sites as they are seen in the countries where our customers are accessing the content.

Pros

  • GeoSurf is a powerful tool that allows us to switch from the different versions of our websites in country to country very quickly.
  • It has a very easy-to-use interface and toolbar which makes changing countries very easy.
  • GeoSurf has a mobile view which allows us to see what mobile content looks like in a given country within a web browser.

Cons

  • Occasionally a country will stop working for periods of time. They usually come back eventually, but can be a bit annoying when you need to see content in that country.
  • GeoSurf can interfere with the default browser proxy settings and interfere with loading content when it is turned off.
  • It's not really a GeoSurf problem, rather an issue on our company network, but some of my team are unable to access one country in particular, and we are having trouble getting this issue sorted by our IT team.

Likelihood to Recommend

For what my team uses GeoSurf for, it is well suited for jumping from country to country to quality control content placements very quickly. For the most part it is reliable, efficient and fast, changing countries and loading content instantly. Our company uses it for a fairly specific task on only our company website, but for what we use it for, it is a very powerful tool.

GeoSurf - very easy to use and reliable for product testing

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Being an international company we quite frequently need to test user journeys from an international customer's perspective. GeoSurf enables us to do this, testing the products we launch on a range of global IP's.

Pros

  • Logging in - very easy.
  • Selecting a country - very easy.
  • Quick access through control panel.

Cons

  • I would like to be able to use Geosurf on a a particular window, rather than having that IP active on all windows. This would enable me to make comparisons between different countries simultaneously.

Likelihood to Recommend

Suited for product testing internationally.
