Lalilo is a visually engaging, standards-aligned literacy software program for grades K–2. It supports literacy learning and instruction through interactive and developmentally appropriate exercises for students and extensive data tracking and planning tools for teachers. Lalilo supports learning and instruction across all components of literacy, including phonological and phonemic awareness, letter and word recognition, comprehension and fluency, vocabulary, writing, and social literacy.…
Lalilo requires more active participation from students than does RAZ. As a teacher, I find that my students are becoming better decoders as a result of using Lalilo for extra reading practice. RAZ allows students to be read to, which my students really like, but Lalilo …
Lalilo is a helpful program for our struggling readers. It gives an alternative to LLI, SRA, or OG - which are all utilized within our elementary settings
Freckle is a fantastic online learning platform. I think it works well in multiple learning environments. Last year I used Freckle in a distance learning model and this year on individual iPads in class. I love that it is a quick platform to assess student achievement. I haven't experienced a scenario where Freckle would fail however, lack of access to the internet is always a factor.
Given students whose behaviors can affect their ability to learn, Lalilo is well suited because it allows students to begin at their just right level and move ahead at their own pace. The fun factor is high enough that students stay engaged, even when they might not do so on other learning platforms. Students also enjoy comparing their badges, so for students who are motivated by competition with their friends, this works in their favor.
Students do not need any training to use Lalilo. As a teacher, I did not need any training, either. It is a simple process to set up and very user friendly. Having used it for almost 2 years now, I have not needed to contact customer service for any issues.
We use Freckle because we are already using Renaissance for accelerated reading. These two programs compliment each other. The students are able to go back and forth between programs very easily. This makes my job as a teacher so much easier. When students are comfortable with a program, they become more independent. This builds much needed confidence.
I used Freckle in the free version and was very pleased with the opportunities it offered my students and the engagement is achieved.
I currently use Freckle premium and continue to enjoy the benefits that Freckle provides to my student's growth, more so it now provides weekly reports and other analytical reports to support students.
