I've had HR professionals ask about using it for interviews. Gone are the days where we have to spend hundreds of dollars to fly candidates in or limit ourselves to phone interviews. Vidyo with it's high reliability has saved the organization thousands in travel costs with candidate recruitment. Business meetings that can often be troubling to get leaders and executive all in one room, Vidyo has functioned extraordinarily well in bringing in people from home, on the road, or the airport. Mobile capabilities are easy and fast. Quick daily calls and chats in the office are probably best suited for the free options out there as Vidyo is not a free service like others. Better yet general phone calls will suffice.
GoTo meeting is great for quick and painless virtual meetings. I have used it many times to quickly organize projects and staff into a simple meeting. Generally speaking, we have been able to share screens, cameras, and collaborate on important projects. Where it starts to fall short is in the presentation or training area. It is difficult for students to interact with things like reactions, taking control of a screen, or letting the presenter know they have a question.
I didn't have to sign up, I just need to log into the "room" I was supposed to, so unlike Skype or other instruments, I didn't need to spend time and create my own account.
To be honest, the largest online class I've attended had 10 people in it (besides the teacher), but it was a good quality connection.
I enjoyed the ability to ask questions or clarifications in the chat (without having to turn on my microphone, so that the teacher could answer the question when he/she finished the thought).
Audio - many of my customers cannot use PC audio because their microphones are not recognized
When I send out a meeting invite from Outlook, the message includes a default link to Teams, so there is much confusion at the time the meeting starts. Most users end up in Teams while I wait in GTM
The screen share options are quite confusing for my customers. They never know what to share or how to share
While we have found GoTo Meeting to be very useful and a part of our normal way of doing business, there are alternatives that are more cost-effective. For example, Microsoft Teams is available as part of our M365 subscription. This will require us to complete a cost analysis to determine which product makes more sense for us to move forward with.
The simplicity of GoToMeetings desktop, mobile, and web-based applications make it a very robust and user-friendly meeting solution. At times, it may be more complex than needed, but it is nice to have so many features that can be used if needed. Once installed, it is very easy to use and navigate.
We have an internal tech team dedicated to setup and troubleshooting of Vidyo. This makes it very easy, because we have access to our own employees for help. Rarely have I or anyone I work with had to escalate something to Vidyo themselves, and we're lucky to have the internal administrators that run the show. Almost like Vidyo is ours and ours alone.
When we have issues, they seem to respond quickly and do everything they can to help us. They have even tried to find other ways we could get more use out of their product, or improve the way we are currently using it. Overall, their support has been fairly good for us.
Vidyo gives all of the competitors a run for their money. Since it works seamlessly, is easy to use, and has a clean UI. Screenshare could benefit from some work, like the ability to share multiple screens from different users at the same time. The search function could be improved, but overall, it's a great software.
We use Zoom for the entire organization because it’s far more cost effective. But, my role as training manager requires my use of GTM to allow all the required features that make my training sessions the most productive. I would always prefer to use GTM over Zoom because the platform is so easy and user friendly yet amazingly powerful. Zoom has the features for the most part, but they aren’t as intuitive to use in my experience
It did help us reach the objective of education - after a while, everyone had a chance to connect and the quality of video/audio once you're in is great. It's just getting there that isn't up to par (but hopefully would be changed in next versions).
