Human Interest offers three products, for a choice of 401(k) or 403(b) that fits an organization's needs. All plans offer an all-in-one, no touch 401(k) to make it easy for employers to run and for employees to save. All plans have a setup fee of $499.
*Human Interest's average employee expense is 0.57%, compared to a 1.64% average for small 401(k) plans. Source: 401(k) Averages Book, 18th Edition.
Human Interest from a financial standpoint has saved us thousands of dollars in fees by making the switch over from ADP. We have seen a drastic change in how much we were spending on ala carte items at ADP that are included in our flat pricing with Human Interest which was a …
We were switching payroll and 401(k) at the same time. We evaluated both ADP and Paychex for both solutions and, in the end, opted for a different payroll provider and the 401(k) only made sense if payroll was through the same provider. Vanguard has a nice platform, and it was …
RUN is a great option if you are a mid to small sized company. Due to the functionality, it seems to be designed for companies that are about that size. I do not think it would be suited for a large company or enterprise as the reporting and Payroll procedures can be somewhat limited.
From an HR standpoint, Human Interest was a seamless integration for our company. It has also been easy for us, as far as regular maintenance because there is nothing that we need to do when we have a new hire come aboard. Human Interest does all of the work for us and without the need for micromanagement. In my position, there is not a single scenario that I can think of where Human Interest is not well suited for a business of our size and type
Being a small company and as a designated owner, the employee who processes payroll is the only person that gets the notification that payroll is submitted. As the "Owner," it would be best if the "owner" could also get a copy of the processing of payroll. I have to log in to review what was actually submitted...so if incorrect and I miss checking immediately, an employee could be paid incorrectly.
The PTO / vacation accrual product does not have the ability to provide a "liability" report of what the accrual balances owed are. I started using the product only to find out that a liability report was not available, nor could it be created.
Employee change form is only available after payroll is submitted. It would be more helpful to have the change form available before submission so any potential incorrect changes could be identified before running a final payroll.
It is much better than the payroll system I used previously. The integrations that RUN has for on-boarding new hires are very convenient when they work properly. It saves a tremendous amount of time being able to email a link to new employees that allows them to enter much of their own demographic information. Payroll feature alerts me when someone's pay is significantly less or more than usual.
I have been using this system for years and they have actually made it easier and easier. The system is always making great upgrades that don't necessarily require any additional information or training. I love when I log in and see a new feature or button that I get to use to make my life easier!
The platform fully integrates with our payroll system and makes onboarding and management of plan participants extremely easy for our team. The portal is super easy for all employees to use and feel comfortable rather than intimidated with their retirement account
I have never had an instance of an outage. It is always available as I have added data while travelling, on weekends, and in after work hours. Retrieving pdf's is also available at any time for employees and benefit participants.
ADP Run loads a bit slowly at times, once I put in my credentials. However, that said, I think my perception of the time it takes is impacted by our "instant gratification" expectation of being able to get into everything quickly.
At times it takes a few minutes to reach someone and sometimes the ADP automated voice prompt does not recognize my name when I say it. Also, sometimes I am forwarded to different departments and I have to explain my issue 2 or 3 times. It is hard to know whether it is an ADP Run/payroll processing issue versus an ADP Time and Attendance issue. Over the last year or so that I have called ADP, sometimes I am left on hold for a very long time.
They have a general support email that doesn't provide a case when an email is sent. I had to email multiple times to have an issue addressed which was frustrating and impacted the rating above. Human Interest doesn't have specific account managers which means that it is especially important that the support team is responsive to questions, otherwise, it is unclear if a problem is being worked on. On the other hand, their support team proactively reached out to communicate that an employee of ours was eligible for an additional contribution as they were over 50 years old. Our payroll system had capped the individual's contribution at $19K which is the current year max for most individuals. Human Interest let us know about the additional contribution availability enabling us to quickly update the employee record for future payrolls.
RUN Powered by ADP® blows Paychex Flex out of the water. The ease of using the app and the website is so much better! The detail we are able to see in the payroll section is much improved. Probably the biggest improvement between the two is the customer service. We feel heard, understood, appreciated, and cared for since switching to RUN Powered by ADP®.
In my other profession, CPA, I have worked with and been involved with numerous other 401K Plan providers. Paychex, Ascensus, Modern Woodman, etc. Some have been very time consuming from implementation to ongoing contributions. Human Interest is a quality organization and has a great platform with easy access and reporting. No heavy lifting and no ongoing tedius work.
Every summer, we hire three new college interns who have to be entered into the system. They can enter their information themselves, which takes a load off me. The onboarding is quite straightforward, and today's college kids are techy enough to be able to understand it.
Providing my clients with the easy to use platform has freed up 2 days worth of work per month for me.
It allows clients to have their employees submit onboarding documentation directly into the system saving client confusion/frustration and limiting calls coming into my office.
Our time and effort in managing the 401K plan should be considerably reduced.
We have now one contact as opposed to three that we had with our old plan which will help me get answers to questions without having to determine who is in charge of what aspect of the plan.
