WooCommerce is the market leader for WordPress eCommerce. WooCommerce is more than just a plugin - it is a platform in itself with hundreds of secondary plugins available. Whether we have a client who needs a simple payment gateway for a service or they need to create a subscription-based membership platform which renders membership-level-specific promotions and synchronizes data with an email automation platform, WooCommerce is where I go to make it happen. We use WooCommerce for the majority of our clients, and it is the only WordPress eCommerce system we recommend.
- WooCommerce allows an expedient eCommerce implementation which allows for third-party payment processing gateways and reliable email confirmations to all parties.
- WooCommerce enables multi-vendor platforms like eBay to be created in a matter of hours.
- WooCommerce lets users set up dropship companies very rapidly.
- WooCommerce is a centralized platform which has literally thousands of plugins available to extend its functionality in any way you can imagine.
- Some of the major extensions, like Memberships, have significant room for improvement regarding what controls are in place. Specifically, Memberships cannot grant/block access to content from users, only from categories and tags.
- Email customization is a major pain. Either ship with MailChimp integration or beef up the email customization options.
- WooCommerce enables a wide range of highly sophisticated technology with extremely rapid implementation. This allows us to contract with much larger clients for much more robust web services, deliver on faster timelines, and radically improve our bottom line.
