Overall Satisfaction with TriNet

We use TriNet for payroll, benefits, and items related. It is being used for Human Resources purposes. When it comes to generating reports, it is very confusing, they offer filters but it is worse to navigate through them too. They have also started charging for certain reports. I have not used that portion but I don't think they should be charging being that it should be part of this same service and it was at one point. I also don't like the fact that when it comes to helping an employee solve an issue or get info, it is difficult to obtain even being the manager of the account.
  • HR rep that is the same for assistance
  • Employee portals
  • Options to employees for payment types
  • payroll
  • Generating reports portal
  • Assistance for employees
  • Ease of navigating portal
  • Ease of making changes
  • timeframe of obtaining insurance certificates
  • Benefits
  • Payroll ease
  • Electronic access to view paystubs
  • insurance certificates production timeframe
I like the electronic concept and ease of working from anywhere with TriNet but in terms of generating reports for financial purposes or comparison of previous times it is difficult. The reporting portal is created in a way that I feel you would need to know how to code to navigate. My main usability is for payroll and benefits.
Customer Service is very polite and tries to be as helpful as they are allowed. On chat, I do not like the fact that it times out too quickly even if the conversation has not ended. I've had several times when I have had to reopen chat multiple times because I'm waiting for customer service to answer and it times out. Trinet creates a case every time there is an issue but sometimes response takes longer than it should.
In support, I have had a chance to view the videos with instructions on PPP which were very helpful and in building reports for PPP loans. Since funding started we have been bombarded with info.
I have not used other products but we are about to change to FrankCrum and it promises to be better than TriNet. Based on their portal and demos it looks like it will be closer to what we need. We have received countless support on onboarding questions which gives me more confidence on moving to them.

Do you think TriNet delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with TriNet's feature set?

Yes

Did TriNet live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of TriNet go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy TriNet again?

No

I believe that TriNet is well suited for a company that has more than 25 employees or multiple locations. Small businesses benefit from the ease of payroll and benefits entry and selections, but when it comes to communication as an admin it becomes difficult to help staff and clear up questions. The payroll portal is great to use.

Using TriNet

1 - Payroll, HR and benefits. The employees use the portal for paystubs and to view their ID cards.
1 - Only one person uses it, to process payroll and benefits. Trinet support for employees has to be done by them independently. This sometimes makes it difficult for them because they are not dealing with someone in house.

I am moving to another company. Their prices have increased and response time has not improved much. They are charging fees for reports and other items such as use of the portal.

Evaluating TriNet and Competitors

Yes - Yes Quickbooks Payroll
  • Ease of Use
  • Other
We went with trinet for benefits and the fact they had payroll helped combine some things that we use the most.
I would explore more in the demos on how to get the most out of the portal. There is really not much guide, it is not difficult but the reports could use a guide. I would also ask about their customer service and response time expectations.

TriNet Implementation

The implementation was great, everyone was helpful. As time progresses you are more directed to the customer service portal for issues. The chat is not great due to it timing out. The call center is better for quick support but you don't always get the quick response or result.
  • Implemented in-house
  • Third-party professional services
It was done remotely but with me in house. The most difficult part was going back and forth .
Change management was minimal

TriNet Training

Yes, payroll and benefits are easy to navigate through. The reports are difficult.

Configuring TriNet

It is not very easy to configure. It is designed for everyone to use but some of their offerings don't apply to all companies, specially small companies.
Know who your designated rep is and have all of their contact information.
No - we have not done any custom code

TriNet Support

ProsCons
Good followup
No escalation required
Immediate help available
Support cares about my success
Less knowledgeable
Need to explain problems multiple times
I did not, It was not offered.
When we initially signed up, they were good about processing concerns quickly and helping us resolve issues.

Using TriNet

ProsCons
Relatively simple
Easy to use
Consistent
Feel confident using
Familiar
Requires technical support
  • Payroll
  • benefits
  • Information updates for employees
  • Reports
  • Chat Support
Yes - It works well on the employee side. It is not very easy to use for admin entries.

TriNet Reliability

It is designed for companies with more that 25 employees or multiple locations. Ours is small so many things the offer or do don't fall in our industry or are difficult.
They are able to process special payrolls when needed. The are also able to create a case for all issues and concerns but at times they do not respond quickly.
The website performance and pages load quickly. On payroll the dashboard and previews take long to load. Reports load quickly but they offer a lot of needless information.

Relationship with TriNet

Very easy, the reps are very responsive during the sales process.
After the sale, they still help with small issues but they are limited on big issues and you get sent to support.
As questions about response time, also ask for a demo and timelines for emergency cases.
