Overall Satisfaction with Jamf Protect
Protect is used on our desktop and laptop fleet of 320 plus units. We switched to this product for a number of reasons, the keys ones being:
Our previous AV solution was causing significant performance issues by consuming more resources that it should
Support for Silicon took over 9 months
Lack of day one support for new MacOS version
Switching to Protect has addressed those key issues mentioned above and more. It's also given us the flexibility of custom analytics to give us greater visibility over things that we are concerned about in our fleet not just AV related items. Using these in conjunction with Pro also allows us to set up custom remediation flows.

- Low resource use Protected Agent - stops tampering with agent and is not a resource hog
- Managed and custom Analytics - along with the out of the box Analytics provided by JAMF, admins can also set up their own to focus on areas of concern eg NISTcompliance items
- Vendor support - support is very responsive and knowledgeable
- JAMF Pro Integration - when introducing a new JAMF admin to the system explaining the integration always causes confusion. Pro integration only give limited visibility over things but has improved a lot. Room for improvement though.
- Better detection of malware reducing downtime and risk to network
- Easy to implement
- Can be a bit of a steep learning curve in general
ESET was a massive resource hog and more often than not blocked legitimate things like creative cloud products. Admin interface was a nightmare to navigate and clunky to use. Delays in getting a stable product that worked on silicon and for new OS was an other major factor in moving away.
